London, Constable, 1960 1st. ed. or.cl. d/w. 8vo. pp.216 The dramatic story of the greatest single disaster in the history of the US navy - (CA-35)-a heavy cruiser commissioned in 1932, active throughout World War II and sunk by a Japanese sub after delivering atomic bomb components, just two weeks before the end of the war. The disaster was because at the time there was no procedure in the US navy for reporting ships overdue at their destination.
